About April Hoffmann

I began making movies in the fall of 2004, shortly after the Sims 2 was released. Having no previous movie making or editing experience, the first several months were a whirlwind of learning experiences. The main thing I learned? I loved making Machinima! I’ve always loved the arts and computers, but the marriage of the two has been the perfect outlet and combination for my abilities and interests.

The real beginning of my journey began when I was fortunate enough to win the first Maxis contest held on the Sims2_website. The recognition was overwhelming as well as encouragement to strive in improving my skills. Click here to see my winning contest entry (made before boolprop or any hacks were available!) Because of that winning entry, I was interviewed by MTV and CBS news. The MTV interview never aired, but you can see a copy here.

I went on to create an award winning series called “The Awakening.” This series received international acclaim including a nomination for best series for the Machinima Film Festival 2005. For a full list of Atlas Productionz accolades, click here.

Many people ask if I want to make directing a career. As a wife and a mother, I don’t see Hollywood in my future; however, I hope to continue with Machinima as far as it will take me.
In addition to making movies, I create promotional videos using Machinima, I design personal websites for individuals (not companies), I am a stay-at-home mother of two wonderful kids, a wife to my husband of ten years, and in my “spare” time enjoy watching movies, wine tasting, reading, traveling, music, art, and developing my relationship with God.
